Book to movie #1- Gone girl

I decided to start doing a series where i share my opinion on various book to movie adaptations, I'm not sure how frequently i will do these but we will see how we go!
I thought id start with the book to movie adaptation of Gone girl.

i read gone girl a few months ago before i even knew it was being made into a movie and i absolutely loved it! I loved the twist in it and how through the whole book you where never completely sure you knew who did what.

I was then of course so excited to see it made into a movie. I had high hope and they were definitely well met. I think the movie kept very close to the book and had the suspense of the book. The twist was done so well and even though i knew what was coming i still enjoyed watching it.

I find a lot of book to movie adaptations disappointing but this did not disappoint at all.

Life Changes

So i recently found out that i may potentially have celiac disease.
Celiac disease for those who don't know is an intolerance or allergy to gluten.

Being a person who loves bread and pasta and basically everything that contains gluten this came as quite an unwanted shock to me.
Whilst I'm still going through the testing stages of diagnosing it, my doctor is pretty confident that it will be confirmed.

So in comes basically a lifestyle overhaul.
I was previously quite an unhealthy eater and anyone who has been gluten free will know that being gluten free means you need to be a lot healthier and a lot more conscious of what you put in your body.
Never before have i had to check every product before i eat it to ensure its ok for me to consume.

I have had to give up a lot of the things i love but i am also trying to stay positive and find new things that i enjoy.

Change is always hard for me so finding ways to make the adjustment easier is always a plus.

So that's whats happening with me at the moment.
Have you had to make a big lifestyle adjustment? Let me know id love to hear your stories.

Currently watching #4

Alright so I've been having some attention span issues when it comes to tv lately. I find I'm getting bored or distracted so easy, and i can't find something that is really hooking me.

These two shows are the only ones I've been consistently watching lately:

Project Runway

I'm just going back and watching old seasons because i actually never watched it before. Basically for those who don't know this show is pretty much just a bunch of clothing designers competing to be the best. I'm currently on season 12, and i really enjoy it. Any kind of reality tv is right up my alley but add in fashion and I'm in love!

House

I'm a big medical show fan, one of my all time favourite shows is Greys Anatomy. This show follows doctor House as he goes about his job of being a doctor basically. I absolutely adore House as character, he is so sarcastic and puts across that he doesn't care but deep down he's a good guy.
It has all the drama you love in a medical show too.

What are your favourite shows?

Currently Playing- Fantasy Life

Fantasy Life is a RPG (Role playing game) for the 3DS and regular DS that i am completely addicted to at the moment.
You get to choose from 1 of 12 life classes (soldier, sorcerer, hunter, mercenary, lumberjack, prospector, fisherman, carpenter, tailor, blacksmith, cook and alchemist) and then complete a series of quests whilst exploring the world and gaining levels.
Depending on the life you choose you can live out the life any way you want to, whether that be a leisurely life of cooking or an adventure to save the world.

Im not usually a big DS player but this game is super addictive!

Whats been happening?

Whats been happening since my last post?
Well..

Ive been studying hard, and making progress in my diploma of web design, I'm close to being halfway through!

I also finally upgraded to my computer to a Macbook Pro, which means i can finally have a reliable computer not only for studying but blogging too.

I just yesterday got back from a three day trip to Queensland. We stayed on the Gold Coast and it was divine. Spent a full day exploring dreamworld, ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and did a bit too much shopping.

A month before that we went on a five day trip to Darwin to stay with friends. It was unbelievably hot up there but it was absolutely beautiful and i enjoyed every second of it!

Aside from the the travel and study, I've just really been enjoying life.
Ive learnt to let go of a lot of things that used to bother me, and i surround myself with positive people.
Life is good so why not enjoy it!

Friday favs

I decided to start a little thing i will call Friday favs where i will share the thigs ive been loving this week.

Tv & Movies

For tv i have been completely addicted to Scandal. By the makers of greys anatomy (one of my favourite shows) scandal is a political drama. Now politics are usually not my thing at all but there is so much more to this show than just politics and i just get sucked in to all the drama. It is super addictive!

I haven't watched too many movies lately because ive been so into scandal but one movie i watched and fell in love with was Divergent. Based on the book by Veronica Roth which i had read prior to seeing the movie. Now usually book to move adaptations do not impress me very much but this was amazing. The cast that were chosen for the roles were spot on! Can we just take a minute to appreciate Four *drools*
Beauty

I have been absolutely loving this combination on my skin the Instant age rewind by Maybelline is amazing for hiding dark circles. The Revlon photoready foundation is just a really great coverage and it doesnt feel like your wearing makeup at all. Also both of these are a great color match for my skin, im extremely pale so its hard to find colours that will match me.

Food

So this isnt exactly food but i bought this multi blender to make breakfast smoothies and i have been loving it! Its so simple to use and clean and the smoothies are delicious!

Lifestyle

I have been loving this Sentence a day notebook by Kikki K. It asks you a question everyday for three years, so you can look back and see how you change. I love the idea and i cant wait to look back at my answers in a years time. Ive been good with keepig up with it so hopefully i stick to it.

Other favs

Baby lips/ The new ikea catalogue/ My filofax/ Spring is comming/ Hommus/ coconut water/ Netflix/ Completing my first unit of study/ family/ coffee/ relaxing/

Top 5 Robin Williams movies

I was absolutely shattered to hear the news about this amazing man passing. I grew up watching his movies and i feel like he was a big part of my childhood. So in honour of this wonderful man i thought i would share my top 5 Robin Williams movies.

There are a few that i havent seen and my favourites may differ from others. As hard as it was i narrowed it down to 5 and here they are:

#5

One hour photo

Now ive heard a few people say they didnt enjoy this movie very much but i loved it!

Robin playing this lonely man who becomes obsessed with a family whose photos he develops. Its just a really haunting movie and just felt a loy of compassion for Sy (the main character).

#4

What dreams may come

After dying in a car crash Chris (the main character) searches the afterlife for his wife Anne.

This movie was so visually stunning and really moving. The love this man has for his wife is just beautiful and it really just touched my heart. I thought about this movie for a long time after i watched it.

#3

Hook

This movie is kind of a continuation to the original Peter Pan, where a grown up peter has to go back to neverland to save his children.

This movie reminds me of my childhood. I went through a fase where i watched it everyday (literally). Its just so wonderfully made. It feels magical and you just wanted to be there with them. There really is something for everyone in this movie.

#2

Jamunji

This classice movie about a board game that comes to life is definitely a family favourite.

I remember as a child always wishing i could have a boardgame like this (despite all the horrible things that came out of it). My brother and i were obsessed and would 'play jamunji' all the time with an old boardgame and our imagination.

#1

Mrs Doubtfire

This is definitely my most beloved Robin Williams film.

A movie about a man who dresses as a nanny to spend time with his kids after his wife asks for a divorce.

As a kid i enjoyed the funny aspects of the movie, but as an adult i love the devotion this man shows to his kids. He does everything he can to spend time with his kids and i think thats really beautiful.

The tragic circumstances of Robin Willams death also brings to light the seriousness of depession. It is invisible and life threatening. So if you are feeling depressed please seek help, find someone you can talk to. Depression can be cured. Life is worth living.

Until next time

Apps of the moment

Today i thought i would share the apps that i am currently loving.

First we have bloglovin which is an app that allows you to view blogs you follow. I like how easy and simple it is to view posts on here. It allows you to see any new posts that you have yet to read and once you have read them they are 'marked as read' so you can know what you've seen.

Im addicted to game apps on my ipad so i thought id share a few that im loving, the first being The Simpsons Tapped out which is a real time build your city type game but your building springfield! As you level up you unlock buildings and characters and there are missions to complete. Any lover of the Simpsons would enjoy this.

The second game app i have on here is Pet rescue saga which is by the makers of Candy crush. In this game you basically just have to match coloured blocks together until you reach a certain goal. Sounds simple right? It gets hard and its so addictive!

The last game i included is of course Candy crush. By far one of the most frustrating games i have ever played but its just so darn addictive. This game for those who dont know is just another colour match game where you need to move tiles to make matches and achieve certain goals. It gets to be very challenging and very frustrating!

The second last app I've included is Blogsy, which i am using as we speak to write this post. It is the only app on my list that is not free (its around $6) but in my opinion definitely worth it if you are a blogger. It basically just allows you to post to your blog from your ipad and you can manage more than one blog. I love it because its easy to use and so convenient and i think it will definitely help me keep up with my posts.

Last but certainly not least is Day one which is a journaling app. Im not very good at keeping up with a paper journal so this app is great because it reminds you to write everyday. You can set it to have a password so that all your thoughts are private. You can also add photos to your posts and it can record the weather and where you are at the time of post. Its really handy and a great way to record memories and thoughts.

So those are the apps that ive been loving at the moment. What are your favourite apps? Im always interested in finding new and interesting apps.

Until next time

Stay fresh!

What ive been upto!

Hey guys! Today i just wanted to give you an update on what I've been doing/enjoying.

So lately I've been in a bit of a reading slump and watching probably too much TV, along with family life I've been rather busy.

I've gotten back into Desperate housewives, back when i used to watch it i never got past season 5 so i decided i needed to see the rest, I'm currently half way through season 6 and loving it. Its kind of a guilty pleasure.

I have heard so many people talk about Criminal minds and how great it is, so i decided i should get on that bandwagon.
I'm only about 6 episodes into the first season but i can see myself really getting into it. Ive never really watched that many crime shows so this is kind of a first for me.

Then there is Vampire diaries, which i used to think was kind of ridiculous but I'm half way through season three and as much as i don't want to admit it, I'm hooked! Its really just an addictive show that you cant take too seriously.

Also want to mention that Family Feud has come back to Australian TV and i get so excited for it every night! I love yelling answers at the TV while I'm cooking dinner, just a bit of good light hearted fun.

I've also been watching but am a little behind on American Big brother, i cant believe how different it is to the Australian version!

On the reading side of things anyone who's seen my book blog will know I'm neck deep in a reading slump and honestly just struggling to get through a book right now.
But the two I'm currently reading are The night circus by Erin Morgenstern and Its not summer without you by Jenny Han

Both are enjoyable but I'm just not in the reading zone at the moment.

I'm currently listening to some oldies. Ive gotten back into A Day to Remember, mainly their album Homesick but i do love most of their work.

I've also gotten right into music from the 00s. I love going on spotify and finding a 00s playlist and just blasting it. I think it was such a great time for music and it has so much nostalgia for me.

Creatively I've been working on a couple of crochet projects.
I'm currently making two crochet blankets both with different methods of 'ripple'

I kind of wish i doubled up the layers of colour on the blue one but I'm too far in to change it now. I love how the purple and grey one is coming along i think they will turn out great.
I'm also working on a granny square blanket but as i haven't put the squares together yet i don't have anything to show but a bunch of granny squares, I'm really excited to see how this one turns out though.
So those are the main things that have been keeping me occupied lately as well as family life.

I am really hoping to get regular posts up at least twice a week on this blog, i wish i could say the same for my book blog but i kind of have to play that one by ear.

Tell me what you've been loving?

Until next time Stay Fresh!
